One of the workers doing siding on our house hit the windshield with a ladder and shattered the glass. The shops are closed today, but I'm going to start calling the dealer tomorrow about a replacement piece.

Give it to me straight guys....is this going to ruin my season? I'm pretty disheartened considering supply shortages for everything. Is it possible to replace this myself, or do I need to try and schedule an installation at the dealer as well?

That really sucks. I’m wondering if you can even get a windshield any time soon. I hope your season doesn’t get screwed. Good luck.

I will report back with what the dealer says tomorrow in case someone else finds themself in the same situation.

I’m seeing it on the online part sites for ~$500 and available to ship in 2-3 days. Who knows if it will actually ship!

This is not going to be cheap so make sure the contractor pay for it.

not sure if it will work for you or not, but i have that side of a windshield for a 2013 212SS
i got it under warranty but never used it... i fixed the problem and did not need it

That sucks! You could tape the glass or have it removed. I suspect there will be some delays in getting a replacement with the way things are these days but I don’t see why that would keep you off the water. Yea it won’t look great but it’s better than being land locked.

I wouldnt let this ruin your season, have them order the glass and when it gets there, take for one day replacement. Meanwhile, remove the broken section and continue boating. It should not interfere with the ability to use the boat. Just check local laws to make sure the area you boat in doesn’t have some weird law or something regarding windshield, they shouldn’t but just in case. In my area some lakes have their own laws.

Good news! Yamaha has the glass in stock at the distribution center in Atlanta. The frame moulding to install was on back order until August, but my local dealer had one in stock. I should be back on the water in a week or so. $750 for the parts and about $500 for the install. This was a much more pleasant experience trying to get parts than my old Seadoo boat.

Glad you'll be able to get it fixed so quickly. I assume the contractor is covering the cost?
