Bronze Garboard Drain Plug Leaking - What should I do?

I believe the previous owner replaced the plastic factory drain plug with this bronze one. Hopefully he will be able to tell me if he used anything permanent.

I will check for O rings after a 24 hour leak test for the new scupper. It is pipe threaded and requires a wrench to install or remove.
Did you every replace? Mine is leaking around the base of the plate not plug. Not bad, but I've suspected it for a couple years now. I replaced the scupper last year because it disintegrated.

OK. This is on my to do list now. I have a 1 1/8 paddle bit I just used to install a cigarette lighter plug at the back of the boat on Thursday. I got it because it was cheaper than the hole saw :(. How hard was the old mount to get off of the boat?

I remember the old one coming off easily.

I just did mine because it ripped out while trying to remove seized plug. Nothing behind the plate but std silicone caulk.filed the old holes with marinetex, nice thick bead of 5200 around the shaft stuck it in drilled some pilot hole screwed it in. The one I bought has a square section for a wrench and loop, so you can use anything that will fit to tighten or loosen.

Mine came off a little too easy. I could see that what little silicone caulk they used wasn't sealing and it almost literally fell off when I removed the screws.. I guess 8 years isn't bad. I'm replacing now and going back with 4200.

Brand new from the factory on the FSH they had the plastic plugs and I am so glad I replaced with the brass plugs!!! The Starboard side popped right out after removing the 3 screws and it seemed to only be silicone in. Installed the brass with 4200 and been dry ever since. You could also purchase the fancy LED plug lights as well.

Fancy LED??? Ummm. No. That's not my style. Perhaps 30 years ago, but it would have been fancy incandescent. :)

If you are not on the water at night it won't make any sense but we have a place on the lake that bands play in the evening on the lake. Boat looks awesome with my red LED's under the gunwhale, bright whites behind the seats on the swim platform, and going to look really good when I put in my 2 drain blue Blue LED's. I can use them when night fishing in fresh water or in the ocean as well.
