Hello. 2014 Scarab 195, 164 hours, 4-Tec Rotax engine. I'm really desperate right now to fix this issue. Last year at the end of the season the check engine light illuminated but there are no codes. At the time it started I was able to see fault codes on the instrument panel, but I never wrote them down, my mistake, because I can't get to them any longer. Since then the codes have disappeared. I changed the O2 sensors thinking it was those but it isn't that. How can I clear the existing code(s), assuming the CEL is illuminated from a stored inactive code?

I recently purchased BUDS2. For some reason the ECU is inaccessible. See screen shot below. It says "Module is in bootload and application is not valid". See image below. A couple questions. It appears that I need to access the ECU on the boat to get some 4-digit code on it to access the ECU menu in BUDS2. Where is the ECU located on the boat? Is it where the diagnostics port plugs in behind the battery? No idea.

Next, do I need to flash the ECU? If so, what's do I get the firmware file for that and where is the procedure to do that? Is there a step by step somewhere online? Maybe a video? I really hope someone can help me with this since I need to sell the boat ASAP with some time left this season for a potential buyer to be motivated to use the boat with a good month and a half left.

ECU is on top of the intake manifold (part 5 in the diagram).

As I mentioned before, I won't be able to advise you on BUDS since I've never used it. Hopefully someone else chimes in for that.

Using Candoo Pro, past fault codes are shown clearly and there's a literal button to reset all fault codes. This removes the CEL. You'd think it would be that simple on yours as well.
