Bumper location on 195

Just curious where you guys hang your bumpers. Currently using the middle and rear most cleat. I'm not real thrilled with how the bumper sits on the rear. I have some adjustable clips and attach quickly to the cleats. I have found some suction cup carabiners on amazon that open up possibilities. This is for launching and pickup.

I don't use the rear cleat for a bumper, I use the tower instead like so

I added a cleat just for bumpers...

About$60 and 1hrs work. I did not reinforce the fiberglass so it's only for fenders (there is a small backing plate)

On my 212s I put one on the bow handrail, one on the mid cleat, one on the tower, and one on the swim platform grab handle if backing the boat in. The rear cleat is mainly for dock lines.

Planning on trying a Babz fender on rear cleat to see if that works. I use the tower as well. Next step will be to add a pop up cleat between the tower and rear cleat.

Yes, our 19' have no good fender placement on them. I installed a set of PhenderPro's on mine. One just in front of the tower and the other just in front of the windshield on both sides. I also use huge Taylor Made fenders on mine. At first I thought they might be overkill, but last weekend when I was tied up the boat was only a few inches from the dock. Glad I went big. Here are some photos of the PhenderPro's installed. Also, in these locations I could access the back side to mount them. I did have to take off the insert on the Starboard side behind the captains chair to get to that one but it was easy.

I use the fender tender and place them right on the windshield and another one tied to the handles inside towards the rear of the cockpit.

cleats only for the ropes.

This is a serious issue with me. My 190 has taken a beating due to the unprotected concrete bulkheads here. I do a lot of solo boating and have a lot of first time guests so the ability to quickly set the fenders to the right height and the correct side is super important going out and coming in. I've been through square pad fenders, low-free board fenders, lozenge style fenders and except for the square pad fenders they all worked "part of the time" but nothing has worked better more of the time than the round ball style. My solution for placement using just 2 fenders is at the bow grab handle and at the stern I installed spring loaded cam cleats as high as I could on the gunnels. Super quick and easy to adjust at both ends.

IMHO adding cleats where you need them is a good idea but be wary of adding them in places where they shouldn't be. Catching or impaling someone or something who was just moving about on the boat would be a drag. Pop up cleats might be an answer.
