The pump housing should be smooth to the clean out plug bottom. I wouldn't expect grinding to be needed, but you might want to show us pics with both of those parts in place.

Thank you. I figured out it was extra resin that looked to be squeezed out during manufacturing. I was able to carve it off, remove all silicon, and reinstall.
Hi sjbrush! How did the results pan out? I'm guessing well since there weren't any replies... I've got the same cavitation issues after replacing starboard bearings, and all parts after the wear ring. Got about 5 MPH more once the wear ring was replaced, but ended up getting more cavitation... will try to seal any spots that look degraded.
