We just moved to Austin area 2 years ago and this is the first time owning a boating in the southern region.

How long do you typically continuing boating until and/or put the boat up for "Winter".

We usually stop getting in the water about mid October, if you just want nice days to drive around it can easily go until late Dec. just depending on how the cold fronts move through. I usually cover it up early Nov with no plans to take it out again until March (but all we do is tube/surf/kneeboard when we take it out)

You can almost boat year around in central Texas. The water will be a little chilly towards the end of October, but you don't have to get in the water to enjoy the boat. Go out on sunny day when the wind isn't howling in November and December and you'll probably have the lake to yourself.

When you do put her in storage, do you do the full winterization (fog, etc) or just had some stabil to the tank and fill-up?

I've never bothered fogging. I stabilize the fuel year around so when I'm done for the year I'll fill her up and park her in her garage at our home.

I use stabil and keep the batteries charged. I'd consider fogging if I went more than 2-3 months without use. I'm at a marina so we'll go out at least once a month during the winter.

Thanks all...need to look into getting a good battery tender. Day after Christmas went cruising lake Travis last year...hope to use the boat at least once a month this winter.
