There should be a trophy for forgetting to seat your clean out plugs during your first spring outing after a six month winter hiatus and wondering why the hell your boat sounds weird and why the hell you aren't moving anywhere.....just saying.

Well that isn't as bad as getting to the water and realizing you forgot the boat keys

I think we have all done those. Ok, on the keys, I don't think I made it to the water, but I have made it all the way to the boat, only to figure out I couldn't unlock the storage unit in which the boat lives...

For the plugs, I now pull them after running and leave them out next to the ports with the hatch open. Boat won't start with that hatch open, and it makes it pretty evident that you haven't done that step when you are trying to get in and stepping over the open hatch. Haven't forgotten them since (knock on wood).

X2 @Coheeba!

I attach my flight flag to the upper swim handle and use it as a reminder for both the drain plug and man hole covers.

Since I'll be leaving the 242x in the lake this summer, I'll also use the flag as a reminder to rotate the ballast pump inlet back on (as the manual says it's a good idea to turn close that lever if leaving the boat in the water for an extended period of time)

I've never forgotten the plugs but have forgot the keys. I just leave them in now.
Now you did it...you just jinxed yourself.... I expect a full public confession when it happens now...LOL :D
