Close to pulling the trigger on a 2016 242 Limited S E-series

Wow what a beauty! Congratulations! I would love to get into that same boat if I could find a decent deal. The only thing I can't stand about my current boat is the absurdly loud engine noise. So is the new boat quieter than an I/O Fraser??

Well I was coming from a 2006 AR210 and before that an old 19' Larson with a single 130 hp I/O so I can't really compare to a true equivalent I/O but I will say that new engines are a lot throatier than my AR210. I love the sound at idle, it still gets pretty loud at cruise but you can have a conversation, which I wasn't able to do before. At WOT its hard to say, I can't tell if it hard to talk because of the wind or the engines. Either way, my kids didn't seem to mind and they have high sensitivity to sounds so I am happy :winkingthumbsup"

Also, I am not sure what your price point is but if you are looking new, now is the time to price out the 2016's. I basically took the lowest dealer pricing I could find, threw in a couple things that I wanted (snap cover and 5 year warranty) and see who would give me the best price. Ultimately I think it was a win-win for both parties as the 2017's were being rolled off the truck as I came to pick up my 2016!

Congrats she's a beauty!

My only other question would be about towing. Do you leave the bimini fabric up? I tow approximately 20 miles, and hit speeds of 70mph. Once a year I tow from Long Island to NC, and hit speeds of 80mph.

I towed about 35 mins each way on Sunday, probably hitting 65 mph and didn't notice a thing when I got home. When I asked the dealer about it, he said a guy tow's his with the Bimini up every weekend out to Delaware from Maryland which is probably at least an hour or so trip depending on where he lives and he said the guy has had no issues. That being said, I did take it off for the three hour trip home as I didn't want to deal with any wind gusts over the Bay Bridge or worry about high speeds. But I won't be taking it off for my weekend trips down to the ramp.

That is good to know, hopefully it is not too time consuming removing and reinstalling it. And I love the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, I wish they would build one from Long Island to CT... it would make my life a hell of a lot easier.

I removed the reinstalled the Bimini myself. I took a video of how it looked before I took it off so that I knew how to put it back on. It's pretty straight forward but takes about 5-10 minutes. I would be able to do it much quicker the second time around but like I said in the earlier post, I don't see myself removing it when I trailer unless I am driving to a far away destination.

And I completely agree on your sentiment on a bridge over LI sound. I believe there was talk of it several years ago but could never get funded. I grew up in CT so I know how long of a trip it is to go all the way around!
