I am considering a 2021 252SD/SE, Is 360Hp enough for this boat ? Seems a little low.

Im am at a total loss as to what I want, I am also considering a 255XD and a 255 FSH sport E. I know they are all totally different boats. Just cant figure out what I would enjoy the most. I know I like fishing but I also know I like a sharp looking boat with power. The 255xd might be a waste for me because im not sure I would use the wake option but I love the look and power. If I decided in a few years that boating is not for me, which one would I have the easiest time selling ?

The 25 footers are bigger and heavier than our 212s with a bit more drag. The 252 series weighs 1000 lbs more than mine (kinda surprised at that much of an increase 3600 vs 4600), but performance should still be decent...you'd need a water test to see if performance fits your needs. My 212s with the non-supercharged engines is a rocket, leaves most prop boats behind with the quick acceleration - bass boats with big outboards and twin engine Fountains/Bajas are the only ones to keep up. The wife looks like she's on a roller coaster ride when I punch it, hanging on for dear life! LOL The 255 series with twin SVHO 250hp engines will likely dislocate your shoulders if you're not prepared. ;)

As for resale value, the X series would probably carry a bit more, but it depends on your buyers as to their perceived value. We didn't need the X series for wakesports so we saved 10k not buying that model, but paid more over the non-s model to get the tower we wanted. Everyone has different needs.

Boattest has a review of the 252sd here:

Well we are at it, I looked at the Scarab 255 Open ID and I love the space on it, Are the Scarab products really that bad ? Why do I see alot of people trash talking them ?

One of the downfalls of scarab is they don’t have clean out plugs so if something gets stuck while driving like a pine cone, pine needles, last year a plastic trash bag was caught in mine, you have no way to get it out easily like Yamaha. With the other brands you have to swim under the boat. Also Yamaha engines I’ve heard are much more bullet proof. Good luck on your decision!

I don't think people are trashing them, just stating opinions. We looked at the 195 which was way too small for us with a tiny bow area, and the 215 which was decent but we found it a bit too cheap in some of the materials for the price point. We also prefer non-supercharged engines for simplicity and found the 212 series has about the same performance as the 215 with twin 200hp which uses about the same fuel but it requires premium. We disliked the fold-back tower as well. Pluses were colour options, stereo, flip-back seats, and engine choices up to twin 300hp (wow). We also looked at the Vortex 203 twin 150hp (now discontinued) and 223 but the lack of passenger bucket seat was a big negative. Ultimately it came down to what we liked for style and what we felt was the best value for the price.
