We just sold our 2018 242 SE less than a month ago & I cannot believe how much I miss it.

My wife and I want to get more debt paid off but we thought about starting to look next summer again for a newer 242SE or 252SE.

We both agreed we want the bigger Bimini. I am just drawn to the 252SE.

We would like hear thoughts of people that have the 252SE. Pros & Cons. Our 242SE was absolutely incredible. I would not hesitate at all to go back to a 242SE. We loved it.

Thanks in Advance

2018 Yamaha 242SE (Sold)

We love our new 252SE. We have 25 hours on it now. The new hull design really rides well. We routinely take it out on open Lake Erie when the forecast is waves 2 ft or less. Inevitably, it kicks up to 3 ft on our return trip, but we just throttle back to 18 mph or so and it handles just fine. I love how the throttles auto-sync to matching RPM's. We carry two 27.5" E-bikes in the front. I pad the sides of the boat around the bikes, and strap the bikes to the grab rail on the starboard side with a mooring rope. It makes for nice biking at Kelley's Island or Put-in-Bay.

I found a nice one on Marketplace out in Manhattan, KS. 2022 252SE. Blue. Great price I think. I cannot stop the itch buddy. I miss my Yamaha like crazy. However, I hate to go back into more debt. We are doing good financially but I am torn. Has 98 hours on it. I love that teak Seadek and interior on it.

I just wonder what difference the 252SE is to our sold 242SE. I loved my 242SE.

Thank You for the help!!
Darren

I've got a 2021 252xe. I am jealous of the speed the 242 had with the 1.8s. I think the tradeoffs are worth it but I still want my cake twice. My only other wishes would be to overcome that with either the supercharger or to a lesser degree the 1.9s.

The newer helm is a big step up.
