Differences in Yamaha Deflector Nozzles

Just saw this thread, very interesting. I must admit that in all my testing I kind of ignored the steering nozzle. Other than using it to attach the wonderful Cobra ultimates+fangs of course!

I have done a lot of work on the venturi nozzle. The stock has a 85mm opening, and I have tested just about every size up to something like 92, at which point there is no more "meat" to work with. Dramatic differences those changes make, no doubt. A combination of volumetric control of venturi nozzle (with an adjustable cone such as Lucky 13), the size of the aperture, and pitch of the prop together make a pump with maximum performance, tuned to provide best speed AND hole shot. It can be done, there IS a sweet spot in these pumps, but it is a lot of work.

I polished the pumps in my 212ss and got the satisfaction of trying.
That is my understanding, too. Polishing/blueprinting pump parts does not seem to do much to performance. Unless blueprinting to seal gaps -- that is a different story.

Reminds me of adjust- a - thrust.

Yes it is! the same concept as Wetwolf's cone, different design. Never tried one myself, I went with the Lucky 13 based on what I could find and read, and discussions with Jerry Gaddis. The L13 is extremely well developed, they really thought of everything.

Never tried myself.

@DCB-270 and @Speedling , I read your responsive posts on polishing and decided never to polish mine or spend the money to have someone else do it. Thanks
