On Labor Day this year my wife and I rode our Waverunners to Stockton from Discovery Bay. Here are a few pics from the trip. The Port of Stockton is in Downtown Stockton, docking is free and it’s next to a stadium where a minor league baseball team, the Stockton Ports, a feeder team to the Oakland A’s, plays. Despite all this it’s currently a crappy destination. Only one restaurant is next to the guest dock, the walkway along the water to the rest of the down town area has or had quite a few homeless encampments on it, and there were only three or four restaurants there of which two were closed at 3p on Labor Day and every Monday. The fact that the security gate to the guest dock was broken didn’t help at all. We have done this trip many times and nothing has gotten better it’s always been like this. If you are just looking to see a new place on the water this is worth the effort at least and most once but don’t rely on restaurant food bring your own, I would bring something to bbq the next time, if there is one.

Surprised to hear that you have water to ride on. We keep hearing out east that California is bone dry...

The lakes are low, I think oroville the second largest reservoir in the state is at 23% capacity which caused them to shut down the hydro electric plant nearby for the first time ever. However the rivers that make up the Sacramento delta that eventfully lead to the pacific via SF bay seem normal. I didn’t take any pics but large container ships were docked at Stockton when we went last Monday, so the water depth must be ok.
