My left engine blew in my 2001 lx- so deciding on whether to rebuild engine (4K) or buy new at ny boat show (probably 40k) or nice used 2014 sx210 at nearby marina for 24k. Clearly new is better but wondering if it's worth the premium. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Used all the way— as long as the boat was well maintained. I’m about to put about $5k worth of upgrades in my boat this off season and aside from the glass cockpit design of the new boats, it will have the same fit, finish, and capabilities of boats that cost twice as much. Plus I get the satisfaction of knowing my boat and teaching my kids how to make things last. I get the natural urge to want to upgrade and get the shiny new model but after MSRP, dealer fees, and basic upgrades, are you still going to have the money to truly enjoy it?
