Dock stereo suggestions???

Hi fellow jet boaters. So I've set out this year to really update and improve our dock at the lake house. So I've had the lift redone, the whole structure pressure washed, added decorations, painted, installed ambient lighting, chairs, umbrellas, and just generally made it a place you want to chill at.



And alas, we've been using the boat stereo for music the last few weekends and it's time to get a stereo hard mounted at the dock. My needs are water resistant speakers ( the main unit will be in the dock house), and Bluetooth.

Suggestions?

You could set up a boat stereo system by using a 120v to 12v converter that supplies the power to your head unit and amps. I would go this route if your dock house gets wet and humid, most home audio receivers won't stand the test of time out in the elements. Though, somebody probably makes an 'outdoor' audio receiver at a higher cost

No, I want something completely separate from the boat stereo since it is not always here. Whatever receiver I get will be out of the elements, it will be inside the dock house. The only thing exposed would be speakers, and they will be tucked high and tight.

I was saying to use a complete 12v marine stereo system for the dock.

If you go the other route.....As for sound quality and standing up to the salt and sun in SW Florida these Niles speakers are a great sounding speaker and have held up for 8plus years on a dock.

The Sonos products might be a good option. They also have a portable "boom box" like option too. You have power. Do you have wi-fi down there? If not, they also run off of bluetooth I believe. Lots of other options/other brands like this too.

There are any number of good exterior and waterproof speakers available including Polk, Boston Acoustics, Klipsch, Niles, Bose, to name few.
I especially like the way Boston Acoustics Voyagers sound. The build quality is great and their brackets are outstanding.
They're available in white or black.
You may be shocked at the losses running wire over a great distance. I buried my wire in PVC pipe and ran serious gauge wire.
While you are running wire you might add a small gauge bundle to extend the function of the remote control. Might come in handy.

I use a Bluetooth speaker and my phone...works good. If you have electricity on your dock then a good boom box would one thing you could do.

I have SONOS for my outdoor kitchen/pool area and I am very happy with the product.

I also use SONOS for whole house distribution of satellite radio and other sources. The range is generally impressive but also limited and can be compromised by other wireless devices used within and around the home. So the distance between the source and boat house can be a factor.

For now, I've just stuffed a cheap, underpowered but otherwise excellent little Lepai amp unit and a bluetooth receiver into an unlisted PVC weather box (also all on Amazon):

For what it's worth. I also have these Yamaha speakers hooked up to an old craig receiver from the 70's coupled with an apple airport express so I can control everything from my phone. Works great and inexpensive.

Great ideas here. I was looking at a Pyle receiver and some Polk speakers but I'm going to revisit my search to include some of the products mentioned here, except SONOS, that's a bit rich for the dock.
