When I was putting my impeller housing back on I noticed a bee crawling into this hole. So I poked a screw driver in there and something is in there like a nest . On the Starboard side the screwdriver goes all the way in.

Does anyone know where this leads to? I cant tell by looking in the service manual.

I believe it is a drain/outlet from exhaust cooling.
@buckbuck had a great video that went through that perhaps we can find and link it?

Ahhhh Crap! Looks like Im going to have to get that cleaned out. I bet thats why Ive been getting these black marks in my engine bay on the side of the engine. Exhaust must be coming out somewhere in there and making the black mark.

@Ernie The diagram is part of the cooling system and that hose outlet, I believe is not exhaust gas but cooling water. If the hose was leaking I think you would see water in engine bay. Pictures of black marks may help others diagnose issue.

(Obviously @Speedling 's brain is still working just fine.) :)

Ya he nailed it!

Thanks guys I"ll try to get some pics up tomorrow of the black marks. I stuck a coat hanger up there and busted through it and it turns out the Starboard side had a blockage also just further up inside. So your saying water is supposed to come out at those holes also? So many holes in these boats!

Run the boat on the hose for a few minutes and it should come out there after a bit.

I am going to try and get the mri scanned for you guys sone time so you can see how much and where was damaged. Basically the size of my wife's fistisdead or damaged. It was right on motor functions. The one doctor said that a little more one way and my thinking/logic would have been effected but a little the other way i could have had serious sight issues. This is me trying to remember little things over many days of a whirlwind of things.
Either way i will be using a quad cane (amazon purchase was best bet there) for a while which is ok because i can smile and talk while i do which is HUGE

Bravo @Speedling !!!!

@Ernie Some have used a trimmer string to poke there and loosen anythign up.

@Speedling Unlike some people boast about...hopefully your wife has small hands.;)

@Ernie Water will come out that hole only when you first start the boat and the thermostat is closed. It allows the higher pressure cooling water to drain from the exhaust preventing it from potentially going backwards against the exhaust stream. Once the thermostat opens the water pressure is reduced and water will no longer come out there.

Thanks buckbuck for that info. Here are a couple of pics of the black spots. I have tried to figure out where on the engine's this is coming out but Im not having any luck. The spots are very dry and I cant seem to clean them off thats why I thought maybe it was related to exhaust. The worst side is the Port engine.

That is strange, but doesn't look like exhaust to me. Looks more like oil. But I will admit I have no idea how oil would be going up the side like that (unless you had oil drips spraying out the side of the engine--not very likely). Will it come off with a Magic Eraser?

The first thing that comes to mind is too much oil in the sump, but you said it was dry. That has been discussed on this forum and there are members who have experienced this. Hopefully they will chime in.

Well I got it cleaned off with a stiffer brush. I put new oil, filter and plugs in every spring and I always double check the oil level and air filters. Everything is always where it should be. I have run my hands all over the engine when its running and shut off but I can never find a wet place or feel exhaust leaking so I would have some kind of a clue where its coming from. I'll just have to keep looking or maybe somebody will chime in if its happened to them.

I suspect that is coming from topside. If it is like my boat rain water collects next to the engine bay gasket when the boat is on an incline. This makes it s way through the gasket at the corner and drips at those points.

Wow I hope your right. I do store it outside and have added a sound barrier under the foam. It makes sense that it would be dripping in because its wet around the edges a lot. Thanks I didn't even think of that.

BTW I ran the engines today and the water is coming out fine in the back. Yayyyy!

You need to watch the video in the FAQ tab about how the cooling water works
It really helps you understand our engines
