I was looking at a 215 ho impulse today and trying to figure out where to place a second battery. Engine compartment is tight. Are people placing them under the port side seat?

That is where I placed mine along with my amp. Will take a picture next time I'm in barn. Wanted to go on other side for balance but seems just fine.

How has your boat been so far?

Haven't bought one yet. Just looked. Getting close

Awesome, please do take a pic. I too was considering this spot but was concerned about balance and just my stuff shuffling around with the battery in that compartment. Maybe we can get a battery cover to help protect it.

I get water back there sometimes during cleaning and what not...why didn't you place your new amp where the factory installed it?

Installed dual batteries today. Put second battery starboard side very back in battery box. Plenty of room remaining. Easy install.

If anyone can post pictures of where they placed the second battery in a 215 it would be much appreciated!

Awesome. Could you share some pics? Did you just bolt it/screw it right to the fiberglass in the compartment to secure it?

That does fit snug. Thanks for the pics. Is the box mounted to the floor or the wood panel? I'm curious what battery you chose to go with. Almost looks smaller to fit the spot?

Its mounted to the floor. Standard 24 battery and standard battery box. It's a Duracell agm from sams club.

@Pinhacker71 , Sorry I know I'm digging up an old post here, but I'm finally moving forward with this mod now that the weather is getting cooler and the boat sees more downtime.

I don't have a great understanding of all the different battery types and sizes, so looking for additional clarification. So you're running a Standard 24 AGM as your second battery, which is different than what I believe is the stock 27 size for the boat right? It's ok to have two different types of batteries in there? The stock battery is not AGM right?

Also, you said you mounted the box to the floor. Did you just screw straight through the box and into the fiberglass with self tapping screws? No worry of puncturing anything under there? So hard to see.

Oh and one more thing, what's that NOCO genius thing? Just for charging purposes?

Thanks for your help!

Drilled directly to floor. Nothing below it. My charger allows me to charge any type battery at same time so no problem with mixing them.

Great, thanks again Pin.

I did put some caulk/coating in the screw. Just drilled small pilot hole first. Good luck
