Engine Failure ... double check my analysis

1211 is an RTV sealant which doesn’t necessarily have as good fuel resistance. Though it seems plenty of people have had no problems.

Maybe I will give it a shot next time I need to order a tube. It looks to be cheaper then the 1211 so that is another plus.

Finished it up enough last night for a pressure test.

What is a pressure test? Compression? Thanks @the MfM for sharing.

With a 2 stroke it’s important that there is no air leaks. So I put some temporary rubber gaskets between the exhaust and behind the intake. Then I pressurized the crank case to 10psi and made sure it held pressure for 10 minutes. I also did a vac test (same thing but the crankcase is under a slight vacuum) to make sure the crank seals are good to go.

If you take the time to clean the mating surfaces well, use new gaskets with gasket dressing and follow torque specs the test are pretty much a formality. But you never know.

The engine is in the boat so it must have passed the pressure test, right?

Had time to finish it up and got it started without any trouble... decided to add inlet strainers to hopefully catch any sand I suck up. I’m also going to add some fuel air seperators.

Planning to be on the water this weekend.

@the MfM Hope all goes well. Let us know how the strainers work out.

Got the boat in the water last weekend. Bit windy so we didn't use it much but everything seems good to go.
