Hey Guys. I just recently purchased a Scarab Impulse 195 HO. I am trying to identify a part that is on the rear of the engine, on the engine side that is closer to the rear of the boat. It looks to be some kind of crankcase breather? A hose goes from the part in question into the air intake. I have also found a small spring in the engine compartment, that I now believe goes into this assembly? It seems to have a ball in there and the spring sits on top of this and when the pressure builds up, it pushes the ball up against the spring and the pressure is release from the engine. Can anyone confirm this or shed some light on it?

When I test drove the boat, without the spring installed (at this point i did not know what it was from), it seemed to run good and did about 43 mph on a fairly calm day.

Do you have a picture of the part and/or the location?

Yeah thats it. Had the dealer help me identify it. The spring is missing from that assembly and the previous owner did not realize it and ran it. Seemed to run fine. Do you think this would cause any engine issues/damage or just reduced performance?
