Hello, I'm new to boating and I'm curious about the top RPM of my engine's. The tach goes to 9k and I usually run around 6k about 30mph. Can I go higher in engine speed. How close to the limit is safe? Thanks
which motors (hp) do you have? i think the NA 155 max is around 7200rpm while the supercharged motors run 7800-7900 rpm. you can go full throttle if you like, just make sure you properly cool down before cutting the engines off. full throttle generates plenty of heat, but at speed, you have plenty of cooling water keeping the temp in check. if you quickly shut off engines after running full throttle, you no longer have water moving to cool the hot engines/oil is no longer pumping. i like to idle for a couple of minutes after running at high speeds before i shut down the motors.

all 155hp motors are naturally aspirated. supercharged engines came in 2 flavors, the 215hp and the 255hp (with external intercoolers). so low to mid 7000 rpms should be your max.
