I thought this would be beneficial to all boat manufacturers and for all of us as owners.

Interesting. I know they have been doing this in trucks for years. I once organized a fire truck pull (yes, that is a thing) and learned that the modern fire trucks are much, much lighter because they have been wired this way, with basically a computer network to remote controllers controlling lights, pumps, etc. and eliminating wiring.

Talk about paradigm shift; that's brilliant. I love it. "Question everything and why you're doing it!"

Seems very similar to the wiring in my '06 Audi A4. It had something like 23 separate controllers in it, and ran over a common network.

I'm unsure how the Tesla system is a new invention worth a patent, over an improvement in an existing paradigm.

I wasn't sure if she said patent or pattern. The paradigm is thinking how a vehicle must be wired (with miles of wire compared to a single power source).

They sure look like patent drawings she was referencing. I'll have to spend some Google-Fu time and see what they are claiming as new and/or improved.

I think this is just a change in shape over what was in my Audi. Each door only had like 5 wires going to it. Power, ground, and a couple signals.......I think....been awhile since I dug around in the wiring.......I do remember reprogramming the door modules though. Was able to convert it to a "european" car and make the windows roll up/down with the key fob remote.

The Tesla setup does look a LOT like Power Over Ethernet devices in computer networking. I've installed a few of those style devices around our old condo. Was nice to run a single cable to the camera's, and have power/signal in the same cord.
