I’m currently looking at a 2013 Yamaha212X. Everything looks to be on the up and up, but I’m looking to find out what the factory compression specs are for the twin 1.8L high output engines. We had a compression check done and it’s showing 135 psi across all cylinders. I can’t find anything on the factory compression and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I have minimal knowledge with the mechanical side of operations and am looking to learn more before I go forward. Any help is appreciated.

That sounds about right. Plus, I think the most important part is consistent readings between cylinders, which you have.

100 percent agree with @spatty99. 135 sounds right and consistency is key if in range. Compression was a much bigger issue with the 2 strokes. I have rebuilt four 2 stokes and while I got great deals on them they were a giant PIA. The 1.8l is a reliable engine.

Appreciate the help! I had time to get with the mechanic that did the test and he basically said everything y’all did. If all goes through we will be moving forward with the purchase tomorrow. Just wanted to make sure and say thank y’all.

Thank you! We’re pretty much sticking to the numerous lakes around Central Texas. Austin, New Braunfels, and Marble Falls areas.
