Fix for my head storage hatch

My head storage hatch made a loud bang when crossing waves/bumps. The hatch is flexible and with the hatch closed, I can easily pull the top out about 2 inches. I took the easy fix of adding self adhesive weatherstrip seal around the top of the hatch. Much quieter now!

Do you have any issues with the door popping open? Mine does and I need a fix for it. I like this idea but I'm afraid the weatherstripping would make it even worse.

I don't have that problem, but my hatch hinge screws and latch screws were loose and needed to be tightened. My hatch door is really flexible. With the hatch closed and lock, I can pull the top of the hatch about 6 inches very easily, and it banged like hell when ever I hit wake.

Can you adjust your latch? If mine isn't adjusted and tightened correctly my door will do the same thing.

The latch will be "closed" but the arm that pulls it tight will be loose and preventing a tight seal. --- just an idea

No adjustment that I can see. My hatch always stays closed, it just makes a banging noise without the extra weather stripping to keep it quite.
