Got the flu shot. Didn't work. Halfway into tearing out our kitchen, lots going on at work and I am down for the count. This will be the first time since I blew my ACL that I used more than one sick day.

Damn holiday parties...evidently I didn't drink enough to kill someone else's germs...:yuck:

I talked to 3 people at a trade show last week. All got the shot and all got the flu about 2-3 days later. It was a milder version, down for about 2 days they said

The flu bug has been very busy this year.... All I can say is wash your hands a lot is the best way to avoid..if you are unfortunate and get it keep hydrated, treat your fevers and stay home. Sorry to say but quite a few of the Influenza cases are long lasting and very severe this year. Take care of your selves.

My wife and both kids have the flu now and all three got the shot earlier in the season. I never get a flu shot and I think I'm showing signs of it now. It's highly contagious. My wife and son also have ear infections to add insult to injury.

My daughters' school is shut down for the day. They had over 15% of the student body out yesterday and were expecting more to be out today. They also had more teachers out then they could get substitutes for. All have fever, upset stomach and other "flu like" symptoms. Thankfully my kids have stayed healthy so far.

Hopefully this flu season will get over quickly, but it doesn't look good at this point.

Sorry to hear your sick, so many of you guys! I get the shot, but we get a dose that is pre-drawn in the lab and already in the syringe, that does not have the metals contained in the serum vial. It is the metals that can cause a reaction and not the actual flu. Influenza is pretty misdiagnosed by individuals. Without the physician actually testing, most illnesses are not influenza. There are many wintertime viral and bacterial respiratory illnesses that have similar symptoms. It is a very dangerous illness and usually requires more care than home remedy. Not once in the 5 or 10 times that my wife or I thought we had the flu over the years, has it turned out to be influenza. And when my wife is sick to her stomach, she always says she has the "stomach flu"...it's a stomach something, but not influenza, as influenza is a respiratory virus...and she's a nurse! The flu also doesn't generally run its course in a day or so, and it comes on very quick. It is normally spread by inhalation of respiratory droplets from a cough or sneeze. Regardless of what type of viral or bacterial infection that all of you have, here is to a fast recovery! Take two aspirin, spend the day on jetboaters.net, and call me in the morning!
