Just drove 4h for our final family vacation. In checking my engine bay and oil levels I found this bolt in the bottom of the compartment.

Doesn't look like I have any oil leaks or anything. It looks like one side of the flange is broken off?

Oh no......

I’ve seen that bolt before.... it’s the cap-bolt, it is integral to EVERYTHING. From the moment it let’s go the ticking clock starts....... 32 days, 6 hours, 23 minutes, 14 seconds from the moment it let go you will be in the dealership signing paperwork on a brand new Yamaha boat, guaranteed.

It’s all part of Yamaha’s secret plan, the true meaning behind “Kando”

Better get your affairs in order, not everyone is lucky enough to find the bolt that starts it all, before the wheels of chnge start turning and they are signing their life away for another taste of that sweet propless floating freedom......

P.S. I’m sorry I’m not actually more helpful, I know someone here will actually be useful

Hahaha. I would consider an upgrade, but here in Canuckistan, our socialist Prime Minister has made many errs, and subsequently tanked our dollar and implemented 10% tariffs on boats. So now a new 212x is close to $95k + 13% tax.

So I better find where that bolt belongs.

Did you find the quarter too, or just the bolt??

Keep looking there may be more change in there.

Kidding aside... It looks like the bolt that holds the spark plug coil in my 230.

Look for as many holes as you can to make sure nothing important is missing a bolt.

Any recent work?

Have you done any repairs or mods lately? Have you had the boat in the shop lately? If so, check that area for the bolt. A 4 hr trailer ride may loosen something that wasn't torgqued properly or may not have been reinstalled at all. Another possibly is that if the boat was in the shop or modded at anytime someone just dropped the bolt and couldn't find it and used a replacement. Good luck, and enjoy the vacation!

No mods or work lately. I will check the coil packs and engine hatch. Boat performed normally today so fingers crossed that whatever it fell off from has more bolts holding it on.
