I see several options of replacement fuel filters on one of the parts stores websites. These include the OEM filter for ~$40/filter, another non-oem version for ~$29.00, and then a jumbo-type (?) OEM replacement for $5/filter.

Should I be sticking to the original OEM given the sensitive nature of 2 strokes? I see so many issues with engines stalling or not running correctly so I may be answering my own question.

Any experiences to share?

Thats probably our site your talking about.
We have been installing either Racor or Sierra Fuel/Water seperators almost religiously in place of any of the "inline" filters. The Sierra's are reasonably priced at about 40$ initially with replacement filters at about 7-8$. They filter down to 10 microns, while the inlines are 100+ microns. Big reason why the internal carb filters always become clogged.

Thanks Island Racing. I do have the Sierra fuel/water separators and I wasn't sure if there was also an inline filter somewhere in the mix. It sounds like there isn't and I couldn't check since the boat is sitting in storage. Thanks again and I have been assembling my order for IslandRacing and will be hitting "send" shortly.
