I bought the boat last season. The specs as well as the dealer said to use regular gas. I just pulled the trigger on a 2019 leftover FX SVHO and the specs call for it to take premium gas. This makes no sense since my boat has the same engines in it. I had no issues with the boat last season but find it odd that the wave runner calls for premium and the boat doesn’t. I’d love to not incur the additional costs of premium on the 24 if I don’t need to but also don’t want to cut corners if in the long run it will screw up the engine. I always use Star Tron Enzyme treatment when I fill the boat also..

Thoughts??

According to yamaha the fx svho is supercharged which is why premium gas is required. The 240s and 242 boats don’t have supercharged engines as far as I know.

As stated above the fxsvho is supercharged...your boat is naturally aspirated requiring only regular fuel

Thank you for the responses. The 24’s have 1.8 liter high output 1812cc, but aren’t supercharged. I should have noticed the difference.

This makes me so much happier, and saves me a few ducats over the course of the season.. Bad enough I fill up with cans at the local gas station for the boat at the dock but the extra $$$ for super would have really pissed me off....

Not a bad surprise. At least you found out your ski has a supercharger v. finding out it doesn't when you thought it did. Congrats on the new ski.

You can get away with regular unleaded on your ski as long as you don't use boost at all.
Just putt putt everywhere and never go over 1/4 throttle.

Buy a lot more fuel cans, been there done that.
