I'm wanting to do a trip from galveston to lake charles through the icw. Was looking for info on refueling points and about how long it takes? If anyone's made this trip I'd appreciate any info you could give.

No idea but very interesting. Will keep and eye to see what you figure it out.

Will rag on another trip in case this does not work out

I might be interested in doing this. Never done before though. Only owned the boat for a short time.

After researching it some last night. 8m gonna put in in kemah, ride across trinity bay to the icw. Then stop at Stingares and gas up, it's a long ride to the next stop. Ride to port Arthur and gas up at peggies on the sabine river. Then head on out to lake charles l'bergue casino. Stay the night and do it in reverse the next day.

I assume this is going to be a Saturday morning departure with Sunday evening return ?

Do you have a target date yet ?

Waiting for warm weather. Probably looking at end of April. Like the departure on the 27th and return on the 28th.

My wife will kill me if I go to Houston on the 27th and then Chicago on the 3th , but I am used to it. When you decide for sure please do ping me and I will try to make it.
Actually once you decide the dates you might want to put them on the tittle and we will start pining other folks from Texas.
I can totally see @Rick215HO making this trip

@Betik I would love to do the Bimini trip, been watching the threads and researching, however that will prob not fit in the budget for 2019. One day for sure though.

I have been looking at maybe doing something in Galveston, Orange Beach, or Florida Keys.

As far as the dates go, I can probably make April work.

Unfortunately we cannot fork $7,000 this summer. If we ever make it to Bimini in 2019 it will most likely be as part of crew. 2020 though is a different story; if all goes well we will be there for 2 weeks.

Seems interesting! Watching.

I'm still working out a few details. I'll post them as soon as I get it all ironed out.

@James R Whitten how are you planning the route to get actual mileage on water?
I tried using a couple different apps and even the Simrad I installed on the boat. all options measured as the crow fly's between waypoints.

I don’t think you can get very precise, but with google maps you can put A LOT of waypoints so you could almost bend that line to whatever line you want it to be

I haven't got that far. But from what others have told me it's about 330 mile round trip.

I'm trying to gauge and idea of cost.

Looks like round trip from DFW to Kemah is 640 miles
at 10 MPG at $2.50/Gallon pulling the boat that will be about $160

330 miles on water averaging 2MPG is 165 Gallons at $4 per Gallon is $660

330 miles on water Averaging 3mpg is 110 Gallons at $4 per gallon is $440

so fuel alone I am guessing $600 to $820

Food $15 a meal per person average. 6 meals = $90

first night in Kemha, just need a bed so should be under $50

What Marina/hotel in Lake Charles are you thinking?

I'm guessing this two day adventure will cost about $1,000 plus the cost of the night in Lake Charles.

There is a good chance (>87%) we make it in 2019. You are welcome to join us as crew if you want to ride on the Scarab (makes it more exciting).

I was planning on staying here. Do some gambling and what not. They have slips on the water some with power.

@B0at1n good planing but I would loose too much sleep over the cost. If cost is the only rraso that prevents you from joining it will not be an issue.
As @Rick215HO mentioned you can jump on his boat . I live in Frisco, so I could always ride with you and cover at least 50% of the trip.
My plan is to seee how the dates work out me. Once I have a firm crasp of my schedule then I will post here how I can support the trip and what will work best for me. Depending who is coming and what the needs are we will figure something out.
