Well, I finally decided to buy my Garmin 741xs and I'll be installing it soon and then giving it the test on the water. I can't wait to see how well it performs. Excited!

Finally got my mount and got the install done. Thanks @B_Mutter for the help with choosing the mount. I picked a different location though. I liked it here better.

Looks Great @spaz944! I like your mounting location!! I might have to try that location next time!! BTW I LOVE the Fusion stereo!! Hook that up to some Wetsounds speakers and crank the volume!!

That ended up a very good location, I like the way it looks! How hard was it to get to the back of it after drilling?

They are just wood screws that came with the mount. I didn't have to access the back. I hope it's able to hold while taking on waves. If not, I'll have to beef up the mount. @B_Mutter mounted one to the side of the helm and I assumed it held up well there. I looked at that location first, but ended up liking this location better. Hopefully going out for a test drive tomorrow and I'll know more about how it holds up.

I installed mine in the same location, you can get access to the back if you have longer arms... Some scratches and some swearing later I got mine secured down nicely.

Where did you access it from @Master-Spud ? It is separate from the dash area. It is fwd of the throttles. I'm just curious.

Accessed it basically from crawling in the bow seats, wiggling through to the dash area and reaching around...like I said a huge pain in the ass, and had to go by feel and basically you have to be a pretty skinny person lol But I'm in a 2014 212x...so maybe slightly different?

Ya me too, not a job I'd like to repeat anytime soon! Lol... But is the perfect mount location in my mind lol

Yes it is. I like that it's out of the way of everything.

Nice post guys. I just stopped at dealer to see the progress on upgrading stock speakers to JL Slampack and Tower speakers then ended up adding the Garmin 721. Took myself and 3 other guys there to figure out where to mount it. Decided I wasn't going to get it until one of the sales reps brought out a longer gimble mount and I figured it would look great on the side. Hope they do a great job. I don't get boat till Firday
