Guest, we are pleased to announce that Hydrophase Ridesteady is offering an extra $100 off for JETBOATERS.NET members on any Ridesteady for Yamaha Speed Control system purchased through March 7th, 2025. Ridesteady is a speed control system (“cruise control”) that uses GPS satellites or engine RPM to keep your boat at the set speed you choose. On twin engine boats, it will also automatically synchronize your engines.
I stay far away from Gaspirilla.... especially with the boat. Way too many people, all of which are usually pretty drunk, including the captains of 1000's of boats two feet away from you. Add in the chop from the traffic... no way for me.
We did it on @tim h 's boat 2 years ago. It was cold that year, but I still had a great time. I was super happy/lucky to have an outstanding captain like Tim behind the helm. I swear boats were passing by inches away from hitting, but noone ever touched. I'd definitely love to do it again, but not behind the wheel myself, unless I took a sacrificial pontoon or something just for that.
Did I mention it was cold that year? Tim was still chuckin water balloons, lol. Pissed a couple people off maybe. Still a great time I'll do it again one day for sure, especially now that I live so much closer. Just not this year.
FYI...I went this year. First time ever. Been living here for almost 30 years and finally went. Yes it was cold (51° when we left) and yes the wind was at 14-16. We took our time getting there but once there the chop was gone. We had an absolute blast. We saw all age groups (surprising) but no fights, no accidents and nothing stupid to draw attention. Jet boats make maneuvering a piece of cake especially going from forward to neutral to reverse (no gears!). Can't wait for next year!!!!
