Hey Folks-
New to jet boating as of last year.
Question, if your jet boat has to be towed, does the engine need to be left idling ?
Thanks in advance! Jim

Correction, assuming the engine will run......like a steering issue, etc.
If the engine will not crank, what is the propoer towing procedure?

I added your second post here for continuity....

In my experience, you are safe towing under 10mph but keep in mind currents that could add many mph. Pinching off the cooling lines is the way to go for rock solid protection.

1) Per the manual, do not tow the boat without the engines running over a speed of 5mph due to the chance of water coming in through the pump and not being sent out through the exhaust - it can lead to water in the oil and/or hydro locking the motor.
2) Purchase clamps and use the provided link above to learn where to clamp off your cooling lines if you need to be towed with one or both motors off.
3) If you need to be towed and can leave the motors running, that strategy can be used in place of clamping.
4) If your engine will not start, check the majors first before flagging someone down: Throttles in neutral, safety lanyard attached and secured, cleanout hatch closed and the cleanout hatch switches depressed.

Full throttle, bucket open.
