So I am not new to jet boats and their handling characteristics. I finally put my 215 HO Impulse in the water for the first time. So does anybody else feel like it's a bit awkward or clunky when moving the throttle back and forth from forward neutral and reverse? It seems a bit challenging, when trying to remember to push the anti lock button on the throttle with my thumb while changing throttle positions when docking.

Anybody have any useful/helpful hints to make this go a little smoother. I am pleased with the way the boat handles at low speeds compared to my Yamaha. Thanks!

@Jet16 Congrats on your new purchase!! I hope you get years of trouble free operation, and fun out of your Scarab!

The throttle on the Scarab is drive by wire. There is no link to the engine from the stick. The tension is there from the raising and lowering of the reverse gate in the rear. You can adjust and/or lube the Bowden cable to give you less resistance, but I dont recommend it.

I like and have also got used to the small bit of tension because when going over wakes, or chop, the boat may splash hard. I have seen my throttle slip into full speed on a big wave. Safety first, convenience last.

ScarabMike,

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes I'm sure it will be something I will get used to. First time out so I'm sure I will be able to smooth out the transitions from F N and R. Just love the lateral thrust that the Rotax engines give you when docking. So much easier to control around the dock than the Yammi. My wife wouldn't even attempt to dock the Yammi but she already was practicing with the Scarab and not doing too bad!

@Jet16 Yes sir!! Its precision! People don't understand how much better it is until they actually drive one.
