Going through some serious withdrawls from the boat this winter season being the first. Cannot wait for the boat shows to start so I can at least get aboard and look around the new stuff. Guess Im just looking for the bright side in all this.

Cheers and Happy New Year to everyone. May your 2017 be full of family, friends, and boating!

I'm right there with you. At first it wasn't that bad. Here lately I have been thinking about the boat and the lake more and more. Hope to be back out on the water by April.

I gave in today. Started hearing voices. So, I unwrapped her and off I went.
It was cold. I was happy.

Funny....we drove by our storage to take a peek and make sure all is good. Always get a little antsy this time of year for the next two months to go by.

That's funny, I thought we were the only ones. We tend to take at least one ride around the lake each weekend and drive past the marina where are boat sits in a field of blue shrink wrapped boats. Brand new Cobra Jet fins and fangs on it that have never been in the water (thanks Jeff), all the boat gear sitting in our spare room..... Hell, I'm even looking forward to getting my yearly dock invoice in February!

I told my wife... now that christmas is over... it's time to start ordering stuff for the mods... this year may not be as much as I want due to building a 20 x 30 metal garage.. (waiting on concrete) but we will still be modding!!! I have a box with a chat plotter and a vhf radio that I purchased last fall... so we can START with that!

Oh thank goodness, I feel much more normal and validated now after reading everyone else actions here...

I don't think it helped me much when I found myself stopping at our local West Marine store just to walk around and look. :) Is that normal?

I recorded a fishing show I saw was on this am, just because it said they were fishing on lake Winnebago in wi. Want to go up there sometime and will watch the show just to see the lake. This is the time of the year that I will watch videos or anything on boating. 4 months to go for me. Provided we don't get snow in April this year.

Yes..... yes that's normal... also, checking all the boating websites each and everyday for sales on stuff you know you are not ready to buy and then get depressed that you are gonna miss the sale price! That's is completely normal as well..

@bronze_10 I hope you will grace us with some photos of the garage project as it unfolds!!!

Today it is 79 in North Florida, If it stays this warm I will be on the river this weekend!!:winkingthumbsup"

I'm a skier so I've got to agree with @Noko The more fun you have in the winter the faster it goes by. Then I'll be floating on a lake in no time.

You lucky dog you. Now I'm extra depress. It was 68 yesterday and I was so tempted but weather read 36 for today so why me?

So far I'm doing well keeping my boating withdrawal in check. I've had a big project going on at work that has had us "steady at it" since September. Plans for some winter shop projects are keeping me occupied at home. So I haven't had much time to miss it.

Of course, now that you guys mention it and I start thinking about it....:mad::mad::mad:

Hey @BobJohnson: I'd recommend launching out of Oshkosh at Rainbow Park (my normal launch point). Winnebago is big and fun to "say you did it" as far as boating it goes, but I find much more interesting boating on the Butte des Morts chain (which is accessible by heading west from the aforementioned launch instead of east). You can spend all day running the Wolf and Fox rivers. There are a bunch of towns to visit with waterfront access to restaurants if that's your thing. Or you can just run up the Wolf River to see where it goes. There is some REAL wilderness up there. (I coulda sworn I heard banjos when I throttled back to idle speed at one point.)

We usually run up to Lake Poygan. There's always a bunch of boats anchored in the SE corner of the lake. Being the social leper that I am, we go further down the lake and drop anchor about a mile off shore where the kids are happy to spend 6 or 7 hours jumping off the back of the boat. (The cheapest gas is the stuff you never burn.)

Be advised that the water is pretty shallow up there in general (at least compared to where I grew up boating). Pick up a fishing map of the area before you head up. Here's what I use: upload_2017-1-3_11-31-59.png It's got Lat/Lon on it so you can plug everything into your GPS.

Whatever your boating style, there's pretty much something for everyone up there.

Edit: And if you REALLY want a treat, go up during Airventure Week. You can anchor just off the end of the runway at Oshkosh and enjoy the air show.

I sure hope summer get's here sooner than later or I am going to be broke. I have been spending $ on the boat in effort to make the depression go away. Purchased so far, but not installed. I need to get busy.
