Anyone else frustrated by the closure design on the big side locker door. Seems like I need to realign the latch every time out and even then the closure is not very secure or consistent. Anyone come up with a better retrofit design? My model boat is a 2025 252SE.

I was super disappointed in the fit and finish of mine. I bought a 2024 252SE in July of 24. This is my very first boat and it's important to note...the day started off looking at a older used pontoon boat for $12k. Went to a dealership advertising new pontoon boats for $20k. Yep no trailer, no motor and very meh. Somehow I started looking at jet boats, and well, that escalated quickly.

I Left the dealership located outside of Philly and headed to a place I just got in Perryville, MD. Almost the second I got on the turnpike (which is terrifying in itself, plus towing a huge boat in a new truck oh and the shoulders were closed due to construction) I saw in the review my head door opened up and was just absolutely smashing open and closed, I mean 10 years of wear and tear on the hinges in the first 20 minutes of ownership. There was nowhere to pull over due to constructions so I just had to deal with it until the next exit which seemed like it would never come up. The good news was my anchor storage hatch then popped up so I couldn't see the head door slamming. I tried calling back to the dealership and didn't get an answer.. I was there past closing time on a Saturday. I get it, they wanted to get out of there and enjoy their weekends. F Me. Charlie Brown luck.

I made sure all the latches were secured and started back out. Again as soon as I got on the turnpike they opened again and started banging around. Jumped off the turnpike and had to secure them with a ton of painters tape. I've been in sales for 33 years and other than a 2 karat engagement ring this is the only purchase I've ever made that gave me buyers remorse. I've owned a lot of Yamaha products, I sold Yamaha products for years and have never been so utterly disappointed with fit and finish...especially on an upper model. Yamaha typically shines in that area.

Getting it back to the dealer was a PIA. Also that was the day I found out Yamaha Marine and Yamaha Jet Boat service are two different things and every jet boat dealer is about 3 hours away. But they did install new hinges, latches and I had locks installed as well on my ski locker, head door, and the anchor spot. I'm also on my 3rd transducer, again under warranty but still. I feel your frustration. I just checked my phone and I deleted all the taped up brand new boat pictures, which are funny now...a half hour after dropping that coin they were not.

I got mine adjusted to close fine, but it isn't a very fancy latch. Over time I've gotten used to it and it works when done right. Toughest part is getting used to making sure it folds down the right way, in the right direction. I would also love a better option.

Wait for it to turn yellow. It really makes the rest of the boat stand out. Mine is a 2012 so give it a few years.
