1st session yesterday on 242 SE with wakebooster. Created a decent wave with 1000 lbs blast on swim deck surf side and center. 500 lbs in a sac on bow. About 600 lbs of people, when surfer in water.

Once we put surfer in water (dropping about 200lbs. We could only get spped up to 9 or 10 mph? Wave real short and close to boat not as good.

Idea to improve wave and speed? I was considering 800 on the swim deck and 450 on the bow? But have no idea. No stock ballast since it is an SE.

I recommend using 800 lbs on back balast (make sure weight is placed more centered on swim deck, about half way from the center to the side the surfer is on). Put as much weight as possible in middle of boat and front of boat. Also remember the more weight centered, the longer the wave will be. If too much weight is in the back, it will be a short and tall wave. Also try speeding up to 10.5 mph to get a longer more even wave.

I am going to have to disagree @azepposag on the weight centered on the swim deck. Yamahas need the weight on the surf side. Also 500 in the bow. Where were the people sitting, all of this matters. The Wake booster adds drag to the boat and it is harder for the boat to maintain speed but it should still be possible with your boat to hit 10.5 on GPS, don't trust the connext.

*edit* You are going to want 800 on the surf side of the swim deck and the rest in the center of the boat with that little of ballast. The people need to sit on the surf side in the cabin to the rear.

Jet boat pilot jet wash deflector will help you plane if you are having drag issues with heavy ballast. We have 800 and 155 on transom, and 750 on rear seat and cannot plane without jetwash deflector. Once installed, very easy to get going.

Same with the trim tabs the boat gets to speed much easier and helps pitch the boat over . I was having the same problem with speed we would send people into the bow . Also deep water 20 + is needed .
