Ok, So I realize a picture would be way worth a thousand words right now but I forgot to take one.

I have a small aluminum cylinder in the storage pouch of my 215, small 1/4ish hole on one side and much bigger on the other...Its about 3" long and maybe 1.5 . No ideal what its for. Just found it the other day when cleaning up after the latest water trip. I figure if its not plainly obvious to one of the group then I'll take a picture next trip.

That sounds like part of a set of emergency tools to remove the intake grate in an emergency.

Post a pic. Scarab do not come with any type of tool kit. @ScarabMike most people will never remove their intake grate as the forward 2 bolts are thru bolted to the hull. They are not very easy to get to with the driveshaft still installed.

What in the world are you talking about? @Scarabtech do yourself a favor, and do some reading on these sections. You can remove the intake grate as you would on any PWC. The driveshaft makes no contact with the driveshaft what so ever.



Post a pic. Scarab do not come with any type of tool kit. @ScarabMike most people will never remove their intake grate as the forward 2 bolts are thru bolted to the hull. They are not very easy to get to with the driveshaft still installed.

Your certification needs to be revoked. You are dead wrong. That grate can be removed at any time, EVEN in the water. It is made that way. Also, your certification needs to come from BRP as a Rotax specialist, not a Scarab/Glastron specialist.

Screenshot_20160726-155728.png here's the pic directly from the Rotax service manual. As you will notice it shows the front 2 bolts going thru the hull. And I am a certified brp technician.

The nut and washer inside the hull should be covered/encased with fiberglass as permanent fixtures in the hull to prevent water intrusion should you have to remove the grate in the water. The the whole grate is sealed with silicone on the seams, and around the seat of the bolts. Its not the easiest way to clear any blockage, but it can be done.

They are not enclosed in fiberglass but Coverd with black silicone sealant. When you attempt to back off the nut it usually starts spinning. I did have one where the customer was able to get them out but not back in. It would be nice if they would design it different.

Just checked mine. Appears to be black silicone with safety wire going between the two nuts.

OK I got an answer from Scarab. It is a spacer for the safety cable on the wake board tower. It come with the tower from MTK but Scarab uses something different as that one will not allow the tower to fold down low enough.
