So Long story short, but finally took deliver of a new AR250. All went well over the weekend until I went to take the trailer off and the trailer brake cable basically came off in my hand. I can't think of anyway that I could possibly have done this. I wasn't even pulled away from the boat yet. Anyway, I wanted to verify that my brakes are not locked or partially locked. Can anybody with the same trailer look underneath your coupler to see if your tab looks like mine (released down/it springs up)

I checked my trailer and it looks the same as yours.

it looks like the cable wasn’t attached inside the hitch. I snapped mine a couple of years ago (my stupidity) and replaced it myself. It’s a bit tricky to do but not overly hard if you’re mechanically inclined.

Yours should be covered by the warranty so you could always get your dealer to fix it. Just depends on how long it takes them. I would not use the trailer for more than a few miles as is.

If you want to do it yourself, I found this great video on a ski boat site about how to disassemble and reassemble the hitch mechanism. I’ll try and find it if you’re interested.

Thank you Dave! It would be most helpful if you do find that video. I was more PO'd somebody would snap it and just stuff it to like like all was OK.

I think this is it. If not, I’ll keep looking. The video is about repairing and rebuilding trailer brakes but he shoes you how to replace the master cylinder in an A60 hitch which is what you have I think.

there’s a ton of stuff on YouTube. Just be

My hitch is a little different, but the tab is made to be naturally in the down position, and should be able to move freely up and down. This is to test that the emergency brake mechanism hasn't been engaged. If it is made by UFP, here is a link to the manual that shows you how the mechanism works and how to reconnect the emergency brake cable.

Fantastic! Huge help and thank you both!
