New to the Yamaha 252. Every time I take the boat out for an hour or two and remove it from the water I get water out of the drain plug nothing in the bilge pump. Would this water be coming in from the anchor locker? Or is this normal operations for a Yamaha jet drive boat? it has not rained and no water came into the boat. I have a picture of the anchor locker drain does it look short?

This is unfortunately common on our boats. If you search for anchor drain you will find multiple threads on this subject. We normally change out that drain to a different one due to leaks. The two biggest culprits are the anchor locker and the rear clean out ports/hatch area.

Neither are big deals, just inconvenient in my opinion to be honest.

Seal your anchor locker first. Super common issue. It's also basically a non issue unless you wet slip your boat with full ballast. :)

Yamaha designer 1: "You know, our customers will be using that front anchor locker A LOT. Should we include the anchor or make the anchor locker hanger a standard size?" *insert fits of laughter*

Yamaha designer 2: "What about how it drains? I've never used an anchor in my life before, but just by looking at the shape, it seems that it must bring in tens of hundreds of gallons of water when it's retrieved and stored! Wait, I have an idea - let's drill a hole in the hull, seal it with bubble gum! AND let's drill it inches above the water line!"

Yeah, the finish on the anchor locker drain as well as the dimensions of the locker itself could have been a bit...better. They put the plastic "grommet" for lack of a better word on the outside and slapped some silicone around it with what would seem to be a giant paintbrush, but then got tired and decided not to finish the inside half of the drain. I'd like to finish it completely, but until then, I've just been using a 5/8" live well plug like this one when i'm out on the water, then I pull it when I cover up the boat on the trailer. Strangely enough, a 5/8" attwood didn't fit as well as a 5/8" invincible for me at least. Wouldn't surprise me if it was a slightly different size hole on each boat!?

Does the live well plug go on the inside?
