I'm trying to add a wash down sprayer on my boat. My plan is to have a small tank that I fill with filtered lake water that I can then pump through a hose and spray nozzle. But I'm trying to figure out where and what to tap into to easily get a supply of lake water. And of course I don't want to screw up the cooling of my engine or anything on my boat while I'm filling the tank, and I don't want my engine sucking the water out of my storage take ether. Any help would be greatly appreciated with hose size details too if you know them.

I got a 5 gallon tank ($9) from WalMart and a $35 pump from Amazon. 5 gallons does a lot and fits in the stern compartments. The location allows me to plug the pump into the 12 volt outlet.

Does this pump spray strong enough and with enough volume that you could wash dog hair away? I’ve been wanting add an on board sprayer because I currently have to stop by a regular hose to spray down after each day out.

I was actually impressed with the stream's pressure. The pressure isn't as strong as the spigot from your house, but it would be strong enough to wash debris down your deck. I'm using it to rinse the salt off us, and the boat. In the end, the cost is relatively low.
