@HELP After launching the boat this morning, I immediately got a speed comm error 0183. As far as I can tell, it's just effecting my ability to know speed. Any ideas? FYI, I am now gonna check the harnesses

thanks @Bruce .. It ended up being my batteries. Had to switch to dual combine to get everything back up.

Yes, that is an error on the communications bus, generally. It can be that you have insufficient electricity, that you have popped off a wire on one of the terminators or pieces of equipment (speedo, GPS, engine) on the bus. Usually, it is the electricity if you have not made a recent change to something.

Good. Glad you got it fixed.

Just FYI, the 0183 in the error refers to NMEA 0183, which is the communications bus that our year boats use for all of the communications on the boat.

I know this is super old thread, but I got that error after adding a battery and amps... can someone please tell me where that communication bus is? I am assuming it’s behind the dash? Maybe I accidentally bumped something when running wires? I don’t think the second battery would affect that at all as it’s only powering the amps.

Thanks!

Yes, the communication bus is a series of wires that go from component to component. There are many behind the dash--connecting each speedometer to the engines, fuel tank, etc. Sorry--I'm a little in Russia now or I would send a pic...

I found it back there... simple fix triangle plug that even said NEMA 0183 was unplugged must have snagged it when installing amps. Thanks for the pointers in right direction!
