High RPMs, Low Speed

Out on the Lake Saturday, AUX battery warning light goes off, then both engine warning lights go off. Boat, on both trips out, runs about 4900 RPMs and going 9 mph. Plugs are in tight. What am I missing? Boat has 2 hours on it. Everything is brand new. Local marina checked everything out for me and nothing is clogged or in the way. Heading back to the dealer, if I can't figure it out. Help please...

Have you opened up the throttle yet? 4900 at 9mph seems about right if you are not on plain. I would be more considered if you can't reach into the 40s at open throttle.

Not yet. Aux battery warning light came on followed by both check engine lights. Based on all the videos Ive seen, I'm supposed to be at 30mph @ 5500rpm. I did run a stretch at 10 mph @ 3300rpms, but I figure why it sounded so good for such a short stretch.

Local marina - was this the dealer you bought the boat from, did they just give you the boat back and say "no problems found"

This is embarrassing, the first hour was spent learning the importance of properly sealed clean out plugs. Next 1/2 hour was running down the river in a no wake, hit the mouth of the lake and accelerated. Short period of time, Aux battery light is on , then both engine lights. Local Marina, not the dealer, checked the pumps, ran it, "no problems found." I haven't had an opportunity to open the throttles. But it will go higher on the rpm's.

Might just be a bad battery or it hasn’t been charged enough.... as far as your error and check engine lights.

do you have access to the boat now, is at your house or on the lift or do you leave it at the lake/storage facility?

I agree with Adrian, start out with the easy stuff, assuming you have two batteries are they on separate switches or can you run off both at the same time, how was it set ?

Maybe just the 1 hour messing with the cleanout plugs with the stereo on was enough to drain them ??

That was my thought exactly... These boats spin fast, hard, loud, and you need to push 5-6,000 RPM to get going...

2 switches, both have been left in the "ON" position since Memorial day.
