I need a some opinion on how bad is this damage on my 2023 Yamaha 252s. I pulled up to the dock at a very slow speed. My bother was leaning over trying to catch the boat from hitting the dock when a gust of wind push the boat into the dock. It didn't sound bad and I didn't think much of it when I jumped out and looked. I noticed this spider "crack" / mark when I got the boat home. I used a scratch remover and it seem to take the black mark off. However I can feel it with my finger nail if I run it along side the boat. Is this a crack in the gelcoat? is the fiber glassed messed up? I'm still new to boating, so I've never seen anthing like this. The mark is about an inch wide and 2 inches tall. Here's a couple of pictures. as you can see if you stand about a foot away you can't see it but a finger nail can still catch it. Thoughts?tempImageziBMLW.pngtempImageWrDJc6.png

Looks like stress cracks. If it is just a scratch or a gouge, you can fix it yourself with gelcoat patch and it will look great

Better the boat has a stress fracture than your brother good thing he didn't put a limb in between the dock and boat. I would not worry about it gel gloss is a brittle hard surface that protects the fiberglass and looks really nice and glossy, unless its chipped off at a water line with exposed fiberglass for a boat that stays in the water, its a not an issue.

if it is above the waterline , so do the gelcoat patch and it will be as good as new.

Nothing major. Fix in the off season.
