The pump I have ordered appears to have screw holes on the strainer to mount it to the hull. I do not want to screw it through the bottom of the hull. So I am thinking about epoxying the strainer to the hull. The only negative I can see is that it would make it difficult to switch to a different model of bilge pump.

What do you suggest?

lifecaulk or 3m 4200?

I used epoxy to fasten the strainer basket to the hull. If the pump goes bad I will just pop off the pump and pop the new pump onto the old basket/mount.
I think I have a pic of it in my album.

You can use 1/4" screws with no problem also.

Does your boat have a liner you can screw into? When replacing my bilge pump, I used the same length screws as the original and figured I was okay.
