The rings for the stern cup holders have silicone holding them in place and I can't remove it. I want to remove these rings so that I can get access to the table mount (rust forms each time I go in the water, looks bad) and the stern radio.

Seems simple, but I can't get it off.

They twist out. There are locking tabs made into the rings that lock in place on the cups.

I understand that, I'm looking for a way to get the rings off since they silicone is used to keep them in place. I spent about 15 unsuccessful minutes yesterday trying to twist them off. I don't want to damage anything to get them off.

Do you have a heat gun? That will soften the adhesive and help you work. Use gloves or pry it with a tool, don't get burned.

I do have a heat gun. Hopefully I'll have enough grip to twist it off.

No ideas for getting them with silicone beyond a bit of heat. As for reinstalling .. I had no silicone from the factory on my boat and found that they did come off too easy. My fix was to crimp the detents on the rings to be a bit tighter. No issues since.

Anyone have an idea where to get replacement rings? I've looked on Yamahasportsplaza without luck.

Sorry for threadjacking.

First thing to come off my boat and fall into the lake... transom cup holder ring.
