I got my YES package from Yamaha but it says it's only for 36 months!

When I bought my boat last month the offer was 4.99 APR with 4 years of YES warranty or $500 in incentives. Well my packet says I purchased 36 months which is only 3 years. Who do I contact to see what the mixup is, my dealer or Yamaha directly? Anyone have something similar happen?

It says my effective warranty date is 7/22/2016
My YES expiration date is 7/16/2020.

Now while that is technically 4 years of coverage, that is including the standard 1 year warranty, so technical;y only 3 years of extended YES coverage. That is not what the offer says as it lists 4 years of extended coverage.

Good thing you won't need it! But I'd call the dealer and get it corrected. You did get the deal in writing, I hope.

Just got off the phone with Yamaha YES department, the lady I spoke with was a bit rude in how she was explaining the coverage but basically she told me its 4 years total in coverage, not 4 years worth of extended coverage despite how misleading their promotion ad is. I explained the ad states 4 years EXTENDED and she said it probably says somewhere 4 years genuine Yamaha or something. Maybe I'm just reading into it differently but I was expecting 5 years coverage not 4 but oh well.

I'm in the same boat (pun intended). Warranty started: 6/29/16. YES expires 6/25/20.
Dealership told me that the factory warranty and YES overlap for the first year. I couldn't get a straight answer when I asked "what is the purpose of that?"
However, the dealership did offer to give me a 5th year of YES warranty for 50% off.

Yea not sure how much leverage I have over debating it with Yamaha. Their ad reads like you get 4 years of extended warranty (YES). When you click on the promotion details I haven't seen anything that goes into full clarification of the warranty, it's mainly just the financial details. I pulled my paperwork from the dealer and its basically just a service order type receipt but does not mention the YES warranty period. I know I signed some stuff about it but I would have to get a copy of the dealers paperwork to see what is actually stated in the stack of papers. Probably not worth the hassle and frustration I suppose but kind of shady they make the extended warranty period overlap with the standard warranty. That makes zero sense Yamaha. My extended coverage should start the time my standard warranty expires IMO.

I read the ad you posted, it states "4 years of free genuine warranty". I suppose that's exactly what Yamaha is going to do.

I'm in the same boat (haha - I won't be quitting my day job.) since I just purchased an FSH Sport. If I express myself, maybe my dealer will offer a 5th year at 50%. They had offered a 5th year at full price, but I turned it down.

Gotta say I'm a bit disappointed too, maybe because of my own expectations. The boat is already covered 1 year for free, without any incentives. This might help me plead a case (for a 5th year at 50%):

With incentive........4 years
Without incentive...1 years
Incentive.................3 years of warranty

The incentive is actually 3 years of extended warranty. Yamaha should label the incentive as that.

The marketers call it "4 years of free warranty".

Agree. It's a marketing play on words. They got me...or us...so lesson learned. My main gripe is the overlap start date and what they consider 4 years of genuine coverage versus big bold text saying 4 years extended. It's a clever play on words I'll give them that lol.

@haknslash - Sorry to hear bud. I too had to question that very closely at the dealership. But it is in fact 4 years of "free genuine Yamaha coverage"... not extended coverage.
I did not purchase the extra year but did work into the deal my USCG kit and all the accessories I wanted to buy at employee cost.

Yea had I known it was that way I would have used it as leverage for even more dealer gear or discounts. Of well perhaps someone else can use this thread to their advantage and be sure to factor in something on their deal of possible. I got a nice discount on my boat so I'm not complaining too much lol just would have been nice to know the details so I could have bargained for the discrepancy in how Yamaha markets it.

There wasn't an offer for 2.99 for 180 months last month for 19' boats. Only 2.99 for first 60 months and then it jumps over 5.something I think after that. Same offers they are running now are the same they ran last month so best for me was 4.99 as the 2.99 for 60 is generally for people who are paying off the boat early, which is not in my budget. I'm not disappointed in the deal I got at all, even if it's 4 years total warranty.

For me there was no point in waiting for the 2017 once I knew the 21' wasn't going to fit in my garage and would have required a chunk of down payment. Had I been able to fit it in my garage I would have certainly waited for the new 21 boats. I bet they are going to be sweet!

Many of the extended warranty companies try to play this base warranty "overlap" game!
My deal was agreed upon with five years of warranty included but when this year's factory program only offered 3 years of YES there was some hemming and hawing going on but I did finally get my YES warranty card with a 2021 end date.
