All I have time for now is the Bottom-line:
(And yes, I know this (now ;-) )

Fuel level at idle is ~7% less than when on plane.
(most of us have noted this...but the rest you work to avoid from learning.)
So I thought I'd share the lesson, having recently learned it:

There is a fuel gauge cliff between 10% and 0% (not in-line with consumption from 20-10%).
She'll run 10-12 min, at 32mph, with 0% showing.
And when you run the fuel dry on plane, there is nothing usable in the tank once you are off plane.
(Can make the time/distance calculation tough as it appears you can get to more of the gas in the tank, from on plane. )

And yes, I am aware of the 7P's...
(It was a great day to get a little extra sun yesterday; we missed by a mile ;-)

Another great day (and adventure) on the water!!

As we had just missed by a mile, we j
ust called the marina we launched from, and they ran a few kids out with a few gallons of gas.

Didn't even charge us for the delivery.

Likely a benefit of having paid for launch (they asked if we had launched there) and it was slow and they had people available.

Counting our blessings for sure.

Did running out equate to 50 gallons used on the connext? I watch both the gallons displayed and fuel gauge. I mentally add 10 gallons to the gallons used as displayed as a rule. Often when I fill up I end up putting about 4 more gallons than the display shows.

I have not paid much attention to gallons used,..., yet.
Frankly, I don't let the boat get less than 50%, almost ever.
Of course, yesterday had a number of exceptions that conspired to create an adventure.

guess technically our boat do 'piss' for propulsion and having no fuel would certainly make them have 'Piss Poor Performance'.

Thanks @Glen. That is very useful to know.

Like @McMark I have learned to watch the gallons used, Connext seems to be spot on form what I have seen thus far.

Yep, @007 and I experienced this exact thing on my old 2012 212SS. We knew the fuel level was low, was running back to the marina to gas up, hit the no wake zone and dropped off plane, motors starved and died and wouldn't restart, had to be jetski towed to the gas dock.

Yea, I had pre-decided that we were going to run on plane right to 15 yds off the marina ramp dock. Was going to be 200 yards through a no wake zone and under a bridge, but considering the time of year and traffic, the risk was worth the return.
But we missed by about a mile-

fuel gauge is off...I go by the gallons used and never go over 40gal.

I even had the fuel sending unit replaced suspecting that is the issue but it was reading out properly but the float may not be. Even with full tank, it still shows shade over half and at half used(by gallons used) it was showing near empty.

Even with a new one it did the same thing so I am not relying on the gauge it self anymore.

I ran out for the first time this summer after a friends boat had broken down. I failed to realize how much more gas would be consumed with six additional adults (ten total) and their gear on board. I ran out right as we were entering the no wake zone at the marina. Fortunately someone was passing by and they towed us the rest of the way in.
