Anyone install a second bilge on an lS2000 and do you have any advice on how you were able to get the thru-hull drain connected to the hose given that it is impossible to reach to the area by the 1st bilge outlet??? Any tips? I want to install a 2nd pump that has an auto switch since I don't want to have to depend on turning on bilge #1. IMO a bilge should be automatic

I have 2 options if I can't figure out how to get the reach to install the 2nd thru hull fitting

1) Replace the yamaha manual bilge (cycles every 2 minutes WHEN the switch is turned on) with the new, auto pump that I have. I would need to direct wire this new pump to the battery so it would always be on and that is easy. Downside is that I don't have a backup pump.
2) Put in the 2nd auto bilge and join it into the existing hose line for the 1st bilge. I see there are y connectors with back flow valves. I like this idea since it is simple. I am not really looking to have 1250 GPH and this is just about having a backup pump.

You're right that it's very hard to reach, but it's not impossible. I layed on my belly on the sun pad did a head stand on a cushion and reached up in there with my left hand. Either way be sure to remove the tray lid to get the best access. Btw I'm 6'2" and this might not have worked if I was 6'. Not much advice I guess.

@M@__, that's great to hear that it can be done. I am only 6' so your wingspan is a bit longer than mine but I might look for help. Otherwise, I'll go with the Y adapter and single thru-hull with 2 pumps.

Y connector is easy, but not advised.
If both pumps are running, you will not get pump*2 output, only single thru-hull output.

If backup is only use case for 2nd pump, it may be fine, just know there is very little increased capacity when doing so.

Added thruhull w/ seperate line is best & safest. (But not easiest)

Bilge project finished and fiberglass scratches all over my arm to prove it. I ended up using 3M 4200 fast cure to secure the new automatic bilge to the floor of the bilge and I installed a dedicated hose to a new thru-hull fitting. I installed the thru hull from the outside and fed the hose into the bilge area. I secured it with 3m 4200 and it seems to be rock solid after curing for the 24 hours. Tested great with all power off since it is hard wired to the battery. 1250 GPH now versus the stock 500, 2 bilge pumps (redundancy), no reliance on the bilge being "turned on", and a built-in automatic float that will pump when it detects water.

Good job! It's nice to have some piece of mind and satisfaction from a job well done.
