About to order the insulation for the engine compartment but I can't measure to find out how much to order due to the endless amount of water coming from the ski. Does anybody that have done this know. I'm thinking 5x6 ft should do it?

McMaster Carr sells them it in linear feet. I think it is 5 sq. feet per linear foot. For me to do the entire eningine compartment except the bottom plus the underside of the fuel tank cover took 17 linear feet and I had a little left over. I recommend that you just measure the biggest location in the engine compartment that you want to cover and multiply that by the number of locations you want to cover.

Don't forget to stretch before you start.

I noticed mine is flaking away, too... What type of foam are you going with? Should I replace the existing soundproofing with a 'dynamat' type material?

So you are going to have to install each square foot individually? Does the material you bought have an adhesive backing?

@atompa there are a few threads here on what material to use. They all seem to be in one of two schools of thought, thick foam to absorb sound and thinner material like dynamat to reduce vibration. If you get the chance checkout McMaster carr's site , they list the sound absorbing percentage of some of their material and they have a good variety of material.

I just rubbed all my insulation off with my hands. It turned into dust when I touched it. I bet it's gonna sound completely different after the new insulation is installed

I think the newer boats are using 2" sound down. But I am not sure.

I don't know that I'll do the wall because I can barely hear the motors now but I can hear one of the props grinding on the wall til I rev the motor slightly then it's perfect. Suggestions? I think I can post a video if needed

@Marvin willis. You mentioned the impeller "grinding on the wall." Whereas you boat in salt water this is most likely the pump liner swelling contacting the impeller. I am getting the exact condition. It also seems to go away when I throttle up. You may want to look into changing out your wear rings as I need to.

Nice job on the sound proofing. I am looking to do the same when I get the wear ring issue resolved. Pictures/videos are always welcome.

Made a huge difference. I went to the cape yesterday and it was day and night difference. As far as my jet pump. Sometimes it's better than others. I called the other day to order a new pump from sbt and they told me I had to send mine first even though that's the opposite from what they told me when I called in the fall s now I'm down a jet ski for a month. But at least I still have my boatimage.jpeg

Will do. It's not pretty but nobody can see in the swim deck so I don't care

I thought this was a long video with me talking but turns out it's only 4 secs but you get the idea. Big difference. And will be a lot better when my new jet pump is installed.
