Over the weekend I experienced a couple of instances where my boat would not start and the voltage alarm would sound. After a couple of tries it would eventually start but this happened at least twice, generally after sitting no more than 15-20 min. My battery had been on the charger until the day before heading out for the weekend. Also, I took my battery to have it checked when I returned and it tests fine.

Any ideas of what may be causing this? I am fine if a new battery will solve the issue, I just don't want to go that route if it's not the problem.

To me it sounds like a loose or corroded battery connection.

I agree with Andy, remove the wires from one battery terminal at a time. Make sure all the connections are clean. Add some dielectric grease then reinstall tightly.

Make sure your connections are tight AND clean. If you are a salt water guy, there might be some corrosion on the terminal ends that needs to be wire brushed off.

No salt water and the connections appeared to be tight and clean. I suppose this could still be the issue though and sounds feasible. I will try the grease, re-install, and monitor the next time I am out. Thanks for all the help.

Before you had this low voltage warning were you listening to the radio for a few hours? Got Amps?

A few hours? No. Maybe 15 min or so. No amps, completely stock radio. :(

Check those connections and if all are good I would question that battery test.
