Is Yamaha 210 ever defined as “mid-mounted” engine?

Looking for help with definitions here. I cannot find anything in Yamaha literature or other places that may help us out.

We have a well-loved AR210, 2009 (that we can afford). Yamaha specs it at 21’ long…. Which may pose a problem as we embark on investing into a lake community that has the following rules. I am inclined to argue that the “direct drive” impeller jetboat is in-fact “mid-mounted engine” as defined in bullet 2, and ask for approval of our AR210. Or is this a hopeless case that forces us into a 190/195?:

“Maximum Power Watercraft Lengths:
• Tri-hulls, V-hulls, Flat Bottom, and Deck Boats with an outboard or an inboard/outboard engine, Inboard boats with a rear-mounted V-drive engine, and Jet-Drive boats will be limited in length to 20 feet 0 inches. Forward drive propulsion systems such as the Volvo Penta drive are classified as an inboard/outdrive which falls under the 20 feet 0 inches boat length limit.
• Inboard boats with a mid-mounted engine direct drive will be limited in length to 21 feet 0 inches.
• Pontoon boats will be limited in length to 24 feet 0 inches.”

What's the context here?

No, when they say Mid mounted, they mean the inboard ski/wake boats with the literal hump engine cover in the center of the boat. Very common ski boats and the configuration of choice before V-drives became popular. And preferable when wake sports took over.

Thanks!
….I maybe will have to beg for a temporary season pass from the lake’s commission on boat registration. The Admiral would not take kindly to the added expense of boat replacement along with the cost of the lakefront home…. Ugh. Now where is that winning lottery ticket?

The best part about this, is it a lake association rule or a local, state, county law?

If it's a lake association, it's a 20ft boat. It's up to them to prove otherwise. And honestly with no way to enforce it, they will do nothing if they ever take the time to question it. Lake association rules are not legally binding over state laws. If it is a public lake with a public access who enforces these "rules" at the landing? Or are you in a marina that has it's own regulations?

Stick to the fact, "in your mind" that it is a 20ft boat and someone with legal authority should tell you otherwise.

6.4 meters is technically 20.9974' round down (smile)

Your limit is 20 feet. However as mentioned by @biffdotorg unless this is a marina or you signed an agreement upon purchase, there is no binding law that requires you to follow their "rules". Also, if the rules are there to limit wake size to reduce shoreline impact, that could mean wakeboarding would be an issue if mentioned in the "rules".

More clarification is required.
