Anybody have any advice when buying items on jetboater.net

What kind of advice? I wouldn't say we've all done it but I'm sure it's a high percentage. Same as any other on-line purchase in that I look at what they're selling and why (does it seem logical?) but I suppose I'm not as concerned since we're a closer community than, say, eBay. If it's someone that's relatively new to the board, I might have a look at some of their other posts and if it's a new member I'd probably be even more cautious. Also, I and many others will respond with a private message - that way you can get into a direct, personal conversation with the seller and freely exchange personal information. If still in doubt you can send a PM and request a phone call. It also depends on the value of the item for sale. I still wouldn't send gobs of $ for, say, a boat for sale and expect delivery. For that kind of $, I'll meet them in person first!

I felt comfortable enough with it, after researching the other posts of the seller, that I ended up buying my boat off of this forum from a seller that was 8 hours away. As stated, after you do a little homework reach out privately. He and I then spoke by phone later that day and had the deal hammered out by the next day. Had he never posted before I don’t know if I would have felt as comfortable in all honesty.

I just received an item today I bought from another member here. Granted it was a small $ amount. Look at post count and how long they've been a member, I'd be surprised if a long time/active member here would try to swindle another member.

I've bought and sold 4 times I think on here (2 times sold, 2 bought). Good transactions. I wouldn't be worried personally. I had a member send paypal F&F as well as I've paid F&F. If you feel good about the deal and all your ducks are in a row, it should be easy.

Main thing is if something seems fishy, just walk away. No use taking a chance. If someone asks you to wire money, or asks for PP F&F/bitcoin and has no post history here and no references from an outside site (I have ebay and heatware feedback to reference people to), don't do the deal.

Agree with above, the community is still fairly small so I buy and sell with a lot of confidence. I’ve bought and sold here several times without any issues at all.

I've bought several things from members, even a car, sent money first, sometimes recived the item before I paid for it,

but this is like any other place,
If the member has only been here a month, hasn't shared any experiences, doesn't have any mutual contacts with other members, I would proceed with extreme caution,

.

My bank account has been “looted” for over $75,000 as either a direct or indirect actions of jetboat members. I hate the classified section of this forum. Oh yes the mods section even more, feeling brewing robbed in brought daylight :banghead:

And I thought my spread sheet was nerdy

That’s a big ski locker.

that table is on the wish list for the future. The extra fuel will be when we decide to go to BImini on a regular basis. Right now the ski locker has kids' beach toys
